چکیده

Background: How can mathematics help us to understand the mechanism of the cardiac motion? The best known approach is to take a mathematical model of the fibered structure, insert it into a more-or-less complex model of cardiac architecture, and then study the resulting fibers of activation that propagate through the myocardium. In our paper, we have attempted to create a novel software capable of demonstrate left ventricular (LV) model in normal hearts. Method: Echocardiography was performed on 70 healthy volunteers. Data evaluated included: velocity (radial, longitudinal, rotational and vector point), displacement (longitudinal and rotational), strain rate (longitudinal and circumferential) and strain (radial, longitudinal and circumferential) of all 16 LV myocardial segments. Using these data, force vectors of myocardial samples were estimated by MATLAB software, interfaced in the echocardiograph system. Dynamic orientation contraction (through the cardiac cycle) of every individual myocardial fiber could be created by adding together the sequential steps of the multiple fragmented sectors of that fiber. This way we attempted to mechanically illustrate the global LV model. Result: Our study shows that in normal cases myocardial fibers initiate from the posteriorbasal region of the heart, continues through the LV free wall, reaches the septum, loops around the apex, ascends, and ends at the superioranterior edge of LV.Conclusion: We were able to define the whole LV myocardial model mathematically, by MATLAB software in normal subjects. This will enable physicians to diagnose and follow up many cardiac diseases when this software is interfaced within echocardiographic machines.

The effect of eight weeks of moderate-intensity endurance training on myocardial capillary density, ejection fraction and left ventricular shortening fraction in male rats with myocardial infarction

Background and objective: Vascular obstruction and impaired blood flow and oxygen delivery cause a myocardial infarction and limit a personchr('39')s function. Therefore, finding a way to create new arteries and replace blocked arteries has always been of interest to researchers, including exercise physiologists. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of eight weeks of moder...

HYPOVENTILATION PRIOR TO ISCHEMIA PRECONDITIONS RAT MYOCARDIUM

Repetitive episodes of brief regional ischemia have been shown to reduce the severity of life-threatening ventricular anhythrnias and infarct size that occur during prolonged occlusion of the coronary artery. This phenomenon is known as ischemic preconditioning. During studies in anesthetized, open chest Wistar rats, we accidentally observed that poorly ventilated animals had a reduced seve...

High myocardial 18F-FDG uptake after chemotherapy in the presence of left ventricular dysfunction as well as 3-month later with no left ventricular dysfunction

Diffusely increased glucose metabolic activity in the right and left ventricles using 2-deoxy-2-(F-18) fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDGPET/CT) and global left ventricular hypokinesia at echocardiography can be evident in acute myocarditis. But, there has been no case report that the ventricular 18F-FDGuptake remains unchanged even ...

Measurement of Left Ventricular Myocardium Wall Instantaneous Motions with Echocardiographic Sequence Images

Background & Aims: One of the important aims of quantitative cardiac image processing is the clarification of myocardial motions in order to derive biomechanical behavior of the heart in the disease condition. In this study we presented a computerized analysis method for detecting the instantaneous myocardial changes by using 2D echocardiography images. Methods: The analysis was performed on th...

The hyperparathyroid heart mimicking acute myocardial infarction.

Left ventricular hypertrophy is a common complication of primary hyperparathyroidism. Numerous disturbances of myocardial physiology have been described as a result of excess parathyroid hormone action. In this brief communication, another phenotype of the hyperparathyroid heart is proposed, the 'pseudo-myocardial infarction hyperparathyroid heart'.
